HDR capture

Most recently released displays support HDR (High Dynamic Range), but many existing capture tools cannot properly process HDR screens and instead save them as SDR (Standard Dynamic Range). In this process, a significant amount of information is permanently lost, and the captured image may look completely different from what the user actually perceives on the screen.

BandiCamera’s HDR capture feature saves HDR screens in HDR-specific formats such as AVIF and JXR. Unlike SDR formats (PNG, JPEG, etc.), HDR-specific formats can preserve the HDR color space.

How to Use HDR Capture

Configure the settings as follows to use BandiCamera's HDR capture feature:

  1. Open the Config (F5) and go to the Miscellaneous tab.
  2. Under HDR Capture Settings, check "Capture with DXGI when HDR is on."
  3. Under HDR Capture Settings, check "Save HDR image when HDR is on."

Now when you capture the screen, both SDR and HDR images are saved automatically.

How to View HDR Capture Images

To properly view HDR images captured with BandiCamera, you need a viewer that supports HDR. Try using BandiView to check your HDR images.
